I hope you can help us. Twice in the last four days our 9 year old cat defecated on my side of our bed. Our cat is a fixed female and does not get along with our other cat. After the first time we thought it was because her box was not clean enough. The second time occured while we were cleaning out her box. She has exhibited this behavior before (defacating on my side of the bed) but a few months normally pass between episodes. Any thoughts? Our vet is not very helpful and we aren't sure how long we can put up with this. Please help!

Optional Information:
Age: 9; Female; Breed: cat-short hair from pound

Already Tried:
Cleaning the pan more regularly - moving her food away from the pan - a shower curtain covering our bed - closing her out of our room

Great ideas - Thanks! Just to check, having the second box right next to the existing box can help? We have a space issue and the boxes would have to be right next to each other.

We have a second cat who lives on the lower level of our house with her two boxes - the cats do not get along. Therefore, space has been a bit of an issue.

Its worth a try and yes if its clean and right there that might do it for you. It sure is the easiest thing to try. And if you don't want to buy another litter pan right away try using a cardboard box you can just throw out.
