We purchased a 5 month old French Bulldog on January 2nd. She came w/a runny nose, they had placed her on clavamox 125mg 2x daily. The discharge worsened, and she began to vomit, the store we had purchased her from suggested that we take her back for treatment, for nebulizer and injectable antibiotics. We brought her home on January 17 after a 6 day stay. She stayed home for 4 days and was placed on clavamox 65mg 2x daily. She again worsened. She went back for a 3 day stay with again injectible antibiotics. They sent her home on obtax 22.7 mg daily. She was showing improvment for the first 2 days home, then again started with a very green constant runny nose, and increased rhaspy breating. They started her on zithromax 2x daily as of today. She has now stopped eating and is very tired. There is no evidence of fever. I was told if she still wasn't eating tomorrow to bring her back for a few days again. I have been told to just be patient and that dog colds take awhile to get better. Is this advice good??

Yes, we purchased her from a pet store/ zoo/ shelter. They do have a vet on staff and a vet facility on premise. My family is so in love with her already, (we just lost our bullie of 11 years in June) so I am concerned regarding the track that Lola is taking. I just worry that all this antibiotic will have some ill affect on her. I also feel that not seeing any improvement consistintley over a month is concerning. I am not an expert, so that is why I am looking to any outside help.

Lola may have a very serious problem and needs proper medical treatment. It is very possible that she could have distemper, nasal-sinus infection, canine influenza or kennel cough. Take her to an emergency vet, not the place she has been going to.

Since there is a possibility that this is distemper you need to seek veterinary help quickly so that she can receive the proper treatment. This is not a time to try treating your pet at home or going back to the same place that has not helped her yet.

Please let me know how you and Lola make out.
