what is a liver shunt and what is treatment

my 10 year old yorkie had been throwing up only recently, she also drinks a lot of water. She does have history of siezures, none for the last couple of years. Blood work so far is negative, urinalysis was clear. I just found out from her vet that she could have an issue of liver shunt. Will be having further test next week.
