Question

I actually have two questions

Sent to Pet Experts September 10, 2005 8:23 p.m.

First, His wiskers are shedding is that a big concern? Secondly, I did not know cat drink from the toliet bowl, therefore my cat has drank from it three times, problem is I have a bleach tablet in the top of the Toliet. Could he have gotten sick from that? I mean he seems fine eating, drinking, and so on and so forth. But cats are kindof like children they keep acting ok then when they really feel the sickness they are completly out of it. Please let me know something I am so worried, he is my heart. Jasper is his name.

                                  Thank you

At his age cats can lose some of their whiskers but they should be replaced by new ones. If his skin and fur looks normal elsewhere on his face and muzzle, it shouldn't be a concern.
The toilet drinking issue could have serious consequences. If you would like to keep using the bowl cleaner with bleach just keep the lid down so he can't drink. If he is feeling OK he probably only took a lick or 2 and it tasted bad. Read the label on the package - some bowl cleaners say that they aren't harmful to pets. If yours doesn't say so, you might want to switch to one that does, or just keep the lid down.
Cats like the fresh water in toilet bowls. Keep his water just as fresh by refilling the bowl twice daily. There are pet water fountains that cat's really like because the water is filtered and recirculated continuously. Your cat might enjoy one and forget about the toilet. Thank you so much. For a minute there I was worried but he looks fine on the muzzle, and face. He is a crazy one so something would have to be seriously wrong for him to stop his daily activities.
