Question

pet mouse

Sent to Pet Experts May 22, 2005 2:12 p.m.

I am not sure if you deal with mice or not, but I'm going to ask anyways. I have 2 pet mice that live in the same cage and recently one of them started getting bald spots. Then the bald spots started getting bloody, and now they are getting worse. She itches all the time, and I am pretty sure she is scratching so much that she is causing these bloody bald spots. The other mouse doesnt have a scratch on him, though, so it cant be a parasite or anything can it? She doesnt really act sick, but she is starting to look terrible. Please help me if you can.

might have some answers for you
Mice can be allergic to food and beddings.
They can also get skin infections from infection of a single open bite or scratch.
You may need a vet visit and antibiotics to resolve the problem you are seeing.
As its only one out the two mice with the problem something like mites or a fungus seems less likely.
You can try some neosporin ointment on the sore spots to see if they will help them heal up.
Hope this helps you!
