How do I treat my yard for pravo. A couple of years ago I had a dog in my yard that got pravo. I heard that I need to treat my yard with bleach to kill the pravo. Do I mix the bleach with water? I am not sure how to go about it. We are getting a puppie some time this week and I want to make sure this puppie does not get it.

Optional Information:
Age: 8; Female; Breed: min. blue heeler/min.assie

Already Tried:
Nothing. We had not planned on getting another dog. This is a birthday present to my daughter.

If it has been 2 years since you had a dog with parvo in your yard, you do not need to do anything. The virus will be dead already. Even in ideal situations, the virus doesn't live in the environment for more than a few months.

In the home you can clean all surfaces with a bleach/water mix, in a 1:30 mix, if you want to be safe. But, again, the virus should already be killed at this point.

Remember that even though your pup is vaccinated, he can still get parvo. So, it is best not to take him places like the park, walks around the neighborhood, etc, until he is older and his immune system is stronger. Puppy class is usually safe, and visits with friends and neighbors whose dogs you know are healthy.
