my 6 1/2 month old daschund was diagnosed with Parvo
Sent to Pet Experts November 11 10:49 PM

my 6 1/2 month old daschund was diagnosed with Parvo today after 2 days off and on of loss of appetite, lethargy and vomiting. No diarrhea thank God. I took her to the emergency vet hospital in our area and she is now hospitalized there receiving IV hydration and supportive care. Her WBC count was normal and she is afebrile with a non-tender belly. She had 2 vaccines at 8 and 12 weeks, but stupid me didn't get the 3rd and 4th ones. I have 5 other daschunds, all older and immunized.....how do I go about making the yard and house safe for them without going broke buying bleach??? None of the other dogs is exhibiting any symptoms. Please advise (and hold a special thought for my baby...I hand-raised her from a litter of 9 that one of our males and female had)

Thank you

Have all the older ones been fully vaccinated? If so, you don't have as much to worry about. If you have carpet, you can rent a steam cleaner and run the clorox through it like detergent. Clorox is about 1.00 per bottle so should not break the bank.

Be sure you don't bring any puppies into the home or breed for at least 6 months following the time that she is no longer shedding the virus.
