If your dog is up to date on shots this is probably not a virus but is more apt to be an infection of coccidia or giardia which are protozoan parasites.
If you have a pup that is not done with vaccinations then you may be looking at parvo or coronavirus.
You need to see a vet with your dog to get a positive diagnosis.
If it is parvo ask your vet about treatment with Tamiflu a human med that is helping dogs survive this disease.
There are also serious issues such as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis that this might be.You can read about this here

I'd get him in to a vet as soon as you can as the little dogs can dehydrate quickly from diarrhea like this.
