Hello. Your little bird is definitely in trouble. It's very likely one of two things. Either she is egg bound, or she has a prolapsed cloaca. In either case, she is in trouble and she needs to get to the emergency clinic of a good avian vet, asap. Her problem could actually be a combination of both. If she has not been on a good diet that includes plenty of fruits, veggies and calcium rich foods, she could be egg bound and the straining of trying to pass the egg has caused the prolapse. In layman's terms, she has a giant hemorrhoid, only it's far more serious than that. Somehow, you have got to keep her from picking at it, it's got to be kept clean, to try to avoid infection and you must get her in to the vet. If you don't have one already, I'll give you links to hopefully assist in finding one. The really good ones should have 24/7 emergency clinic services available. You should only have to call, tell them you are on the way with an almost positive prolapse and they will meet you there. If you have something smaller where you can keep her clean and more quiet, and warm, that is best. Even if you have to cut holes in the lid of a shoebox, line it with lots of clean paper towels, that is better than nothing. It might also discourage picking at it. Of course if she is in there very long, you'll have to provide water and something to eat, but for right now, keeping her as quiet and stress free as possible is what she needs. Please check these links right away, unless you do have good vet you can get to right away. This is an emergency. If you don't get her in asap, you are going to lose her. Best of luck and let me know if I can do anything else for you. Patricia
