parakeet behavior
Sent to Pet Experts April 18 01:42 PM

Our female parakeet "plucks" the wires of the cage. None of our other birds have shown this behavior. What should we do? Is something lacking in her diet? Help! Thank you.

I don't think it's diet, a lot of times this is done out of boredome, get her some toys to play with and see if that helps. Swings, bells, shiney things...also things made out of rope, string or leather. Rotate the toys each week for variety.

Also, if her cage is near another birds, she may feel threatened that the other cage is too close, or if she's near a window or tv, that she feels is a threat. Try moving the cage if this seems likely.

I hope this helped, if you have any other questions, let me know.
