I have an Australian parakeet that I have adopted. I've noticed that her stool is very liquid. Her appitite is fine. And she is very fiesty. Is she lacking something in her diet. Or maybe has a parasite?

Parakeets can be afflicted with parasites, the most common are the Ascaris and Capillaris worms. The parakeet should be wormed three to four times a year. Use Piperazine or Levimasole to worm your bird.

If the stool continues to be liquid you should take her to an vet to be checked for parasite.

As for diet:
A balanced diet is very important for Australian Parakeet. Seed mixtures are not complete by themselves. They need a mix of vegetables, legumes, protein, and calcium from meat and dairy products. You may choose a complete diet available in pelleted form, but a seed/supplement mix can be easier to digest and more bioavailable.

Basic seed mixes are made up of 40 % canary seed, 20 % French millet, 20 % panicum, and 20 % oats. Protein may come from a small amount of wheat germ or cod liver oil.

Your parakeet wshould have fresh greens, but you must remove them from the cage after an hour because they spoil. They may also have fresh (untreated) grass, leaves and branches from non-poisonous trees, and small amounts of fruit.
Always provide plenty of fresh water.

Grit provides calcium, salt, iodine, trace minerals aids in the digestion process.
