Pet fancy mouse with bald patches over face, torn ears and intense ear itching- just discovered coming home from vacation yaesterday. Pet sitter did not notice over past weeks. Mange mites?

Already Tried:
topical permethrin spray on a q-tip to area, cleaned cage, sprayed surrounding areas (vet once said no spray in cage - too toxic), triple antibiotic to open areas.
