I have a chihuahua that is 19 months. He has started going "bald" on what a human would call the temples. Both sides are uniform in size. He is also balding on his chest. I had him at the vet this past weekend, and he did a scraping for mange, which was negative. He told me it could be hormonal, or allergies. It there anything at all I can do--i.e. vitamins, creams, etc, to help this. I am a nurse, so I will understand medical terminology.
Thank You
Jane Smith

Hello,

I totally understand what you are going through. I have had this problem with one of my Chihuauas. (She had no hiar on her back end of her body). I found after going through so much, that diet and thryroid medication is what helped it clear up. I started to add the Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids to the diet as well after some blood work we found there was a thyroid problem. I also switched my food to the dog to the Lamb and rice diet, but I have also found that the Venison and rice is also an effective diet, but sometimes hard to find. It is all a guessing game when it comes to hair loss. All you can do is try to add the supplements, change the diet and as a last resort you may want to go through the bloodwork for allergies and thyroid. I personally after going through this would try the easiest solutions first. Joan Jav917
