MY DOG IS 1 YRS. OLD AND HAS A PROBLEM WITH BOLDING SPOT ON HIS BACK,HE DOESN’T SCRATCH IT ,NOR DOES IT STINK. IT’S GOTTEN TO THE SIZE OF A COOKIE.AND HE HASEN’T BEEN BITTEN. THIS HAS BEEN A ON GROWING PROBLEM.

Okay...on to the problem. What breed is your dog and are there any similar lesions of the legs or face? and...when did it start?

Reply to Dr. Vamvakias's Post: my dog is a pitbull.there are thin spots on his coat but you have to pull back other furr to see it.none on the face.i wouldn't consider them lesions.he's just missing hair there,but to answer the qestion none on the legs or face.

 Pit bulls are notorious for demdodex mange. This mange is not itchy...or cause skin marks..the mange burrows in the hair follicles and just causes patches of hair loss.

I would consider getting a skin scrape...if it is only in one location, there are topicals that can help.

The other thing I think of is sometimes bacteria can cause areas of patchy moth eaten apperance, but there is usually more than one.

Have you tried any topicals on it yet?
