Question

My Male 3 year old Maltese

Sent to Pet Experts July 28, 2005 9:45 p.m.

Sammy, my 8 pound Maltese started coughing (sounded like kennel cough-was NOT kenneled)approximately 3 wks ago.the he started sneezing (with an infrequent milky somewhat bloody discharge) was administering clavamox, still sneezing . Is eating heartily but hardly barking.Today I noticed that he did not want to jump up or down on his favorite furniture and when I brought him outside, he started running a bit but then he stumbled (2 x today) Vet said he had swollen tonsils/glands heart beat and lungs are clear. Any help would be appreciated, please!!

If you are seeing bloody dicharge from his nose have the vet swab and test for fungal diseases.
And just so you know kennel cough just can pass dog to dog - just easier to catch it in a kennel like its easier for a kid to catch a cold in kindergarten.
You can read about tonsillitis in dogs here

He may be off balance if the infection is impacting his inner ears too.
I think you need to call the vet and let him or her know your dog is getting worse not better and tell them the new symptoms.
Hope this helps you!
