Eye infection
Sent to Pet Experts July 27 04:40 PM

I have a six year old Boston terrier. He contracted kennel cough last week but has since recovered. However, his eyes became very red during the infection and his left eye has become swollen and extremely red. I took him to our vet and he dilated his eyes with atripine. That was on Sunday today his eye left eye is still dilated. We had him checked for glaucoma and all is well...we are also administering neomycin ointment to the eye. Is the prolonged dialation a concern?

"Atropine's effects may last for several days after the drug is discontinued. Do not be alarmed if the pupil stays dilated for several days. "
But call your vet office and tell them and particularly call and talk to them if the eye does not seem better or seems to be getting worse. Ask about timing on when you should see progress or improvement.
You don't want to fool around with eyes and if the treatment isn't working you may need another medication to resolve this.
Hope this helps you!

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: I'm looking for more specifics. If I thought my vet was helpful I would have been asking him questions, I was not looking for a reply that said go ask your vet.
