Question

Bad Cough

Sent to Pet Experts July 25, 2005 7:33 a.m.

My Yorkie developed a terrible cough over the weekend. It's almost like something is stuck in his throat but he has thrown up dozens of times. The cough only starts when he is not resting

This could be a problem such as kennel cough (a virus similar to our colds) or it could be a heart issue.
With Yorkies this could also be a trachea problem that got worse recently.
You can read about Kennel Cough here to see if it matches what you are seeing
www.marvistavet.com/html/kennel_cough.html
You should probably see your vet with your pet just to rule out heart or trachea issues and to get cough meds if this is kennel cough and to find out just what is wrong with your little guy.
Hope this helps you!
