My drawf hamster is 28 mos. old, it is in good health(eats good, plays alot) except its pouch is packed it is red in the pouch area and all of the hair has fallen off on the pouch.(only on one side) This all has happened in a period of about 5 days.

It sounds like he has an impaction on that side. A vet visit is needed to remove the impacted food before infection sets in.

Reply to ZooCVT's Post: I have called every vet. in 60 miles off fo me, none of them work on hamsters. Is there anything I can do for her? She is very tame. How do I go about getting the food out? Their is a vet. 75 miles from me but he can"t see her until friday. I think that will be to late. Her pouch is red now. Thank ou cw

It will be very difficult but you can try gently massaging the food out. Though she is very gentle, it is probly painful so be very gentle. Your vet would probably need to anesthetize her to do this. What is your location and I may be able to find an exotics vet in your area.

Reply to ZooCVT's Post: I took her too petmart last night. She had infection in her pouch, they drained it, and put her on medicine to clear it up. Thanks for all your help. cw
