Question

History:
I have two female hamsters, sisters, age 17 months. They were bred at home and I have owned them since they were weaned. They have always shared a cage and get along together exceptionally well. I have never known them to fight. They sleep together, eat together and even run on their wheel together.

My neice and I want to mate our hamsters together. We have even found prospective homes for any babies we are not keeping.

Question: If I mate one of the girls, I'm sure I'd have to separate them for the, but won't this cause stress for the prospective mother since she is used to the other female hamster being there?

Please help! All I can find on the net is information about breeding a hamster seems to assume that it had no cage mate. Thanks!
