Sick Guinea Pig

My guinea pig stopped eating yesterday. I cleaned his caged today and notices some fecal matter stuck to his hind end. I cleaned it and tried to express his anal glands. He started to eat. Now he stopped eating again. He is 5 years old. Any suggestions?
