nervous guinea pig?

My guinea pig is a 9 month old male that i have had since he was about 3 months. He squeaks a lot which worries me as it says on your website that that is his communication for pain or hunger.
I am worried he is lonely but can't get another pig for hom as he is a male.
Also he is losing fur on both his thighs. I have looked this up but it does not seem to be mites or anything bad. Is he stressed? He is eating and drinking as normal.
