Within the past three days my guinea pig has stopped eating ...

Within the past three days my guinea pig has stopped eating and drinking his water. He seems to have lost weight and appears dehydrated. I am attempting to give him water via syringe. Unfortunately, I do not have the finances to take him to the vet. What else can I do to make sure that he gets better?
