i have a female and male gerbil male attacking female why they were getting along until last night

Normally gerbils will start to mate at 3 months and older. They "play" a "game" of tag...that is the male will chase the female around and nip at her...this "game" will go on for 2-3 hours at a time. So, this is normal and if you don't want pups, I would suggest that you separate them...but she may already be pregnant. Good luck :)

ok if the case is that my male gerbil is in heat
why is female seem so care i have them in a split cage and he trying to get to the other side and she is just sitting on top of her nest staring at him like if she does not want to be near him
