We noticed about a week ago that one of our male gerbils who has always been the larger of the two had lost alot of weight and was very bony. We never handled them very much so as not to get them sick but this morning the same gerbil is very ill. The gerbil is falling over on his side and twitches and has what looks like fecal/blood matter stuck to his bottom. He isn't eating anything and we have been giving him a very little amount of water by mild force but he isn't getting better. I assume he is dying. Can you tell me what you think is happening. Until a week ago he was fine.
