Any suggestions as to how I could catch my two escaped

Sent to Pet Experts February 02, 2006 3:14 p.m.

Any suggestions as to how I could catch my two escaped gerbils? I've already put out two paper grocery sacks containing gerbil food, bedding, timothy, and a wooden block to chew. As soon as they sense ANY movement, they're OUTa here! They've even woken me up with their scratching IN the sack!

Optional Information:
Age: <1; Male; Breed: gerbils

Already Tried:
An open paper sack on the floor containing gerbil food, bedding, timothy hay, & wood block.

How about one of the live mouse traps that you can bait with food. The door swings in and does not reopen from the inside.
Tin Cat is one type and mouse or rat cube is another. The cubes you have to empty quickly as they can suffocate in them if left there too long.
Some people find using the cage to trap the escapees works well for them. Or you can try a bucket with a ramp up so they can get to where they can jump down to food inside but can't leap back up and out.
Hope this helps you!
