My Ocar has a big lump on his side and he won't eat. And I did a water change and put stress pill in the water. Please help me I had him for 8 Years

Is the lump behid his gills? How is his eating? Is his swimming and behavior normal? How much of a water change did you do? Do you check the water chemistries and if so, what were they...Ammonia? Nitrite?
