How can you tell a male oscar fish from a female?

I would love to know if there is a sure fire way of sexing oscar fish..I heard that the female will have one big hole and one small hole and the male will have two of the same size holes. But my fish has two different sized holes but not the ones that would determine what gender it is..help!
