eat back
Sent to Pet Experts September 21 08:43 AM

we have a small fish pond in our back yard. All of them are gold fish that have hatched in this pond. One gold fish seems to be in trouble. It is very large, almost like it is egg bound. It swims off balance, continues to eat regularly, color looks good, but just very huge. I would say the mid section to tail is approximately 4" to 5" across with a length of maybe 6". The fish has been like this for about a year. I feel I should do something for it, but don't know what. I can't find anything on goldfish resembling this type of problem.

I did some research for you and found two likely possibilities one is parasites but I'd expect all the fish to have an issue then. The other is called Dropsy where symptoms would be a swollen abdomen and scales sticking out. You can read about the condition and treatment here

The pond fish can have the same problems as the tank goldfish.
It may have started as constipation but now may have gone beyond that to dropsy. You can read about constipation here

Hope this helps you!
