Sent to Pet Experts October 14, 2006 11:38 a.m.

Hello, this is my first time here at this site and am so glad to have you answer all my questions answered please... question #1-How do you sprout seeds from spray millet treats or other seeds?                            #2-how soon after the baby finches hatch do they start to come out of the nest for the first time?(this weekend they hatched and am so excited to see how many there are-also after several days I did peek quickly in their nest -but coldn't see them as they are in a pretty big nesting box and are on an angle at the top of the cage- and I know they are there since I've been hearing them everyday now for a week.                                          ;#3 along with their regular diet what soft foods would you recommend?(so far I give them fresh hard- boiled eggs w shells, cream of wheat soft cereal , soft veg., & fruit like bannanas and yogurt...)                                                       #4 the parent finches are fighting alot lately- why?//

Okay I'll be glad to do my best to answer all your questions. First I need a little more information from you please. How old are the parent birds? What type of Finch are they; Zebras, Society, etc.? How many chicks? Have all the eggs hatched? This extra information will help me give you my best answers and advice. Thanks, Patricia

Hello again - Here is the information you asked me in order for you to answer my questions... My birds are about 1 half a year old 1 male & 1 female - they are about 2 months apart in age ... the male is about 2 months younger than the female . they are both zebra finch birds... and all the baby birds have hathed 1 week ago . They have atleast 3 hatchlings . This is the first time the had eggs that hatched , and as I mentioned previously I can not see inside their nesting box since it's way up in their tall cage...also the parent finches have been non stop fighting- the female keeps chasing the male bird & thogh he's really good with them she's been relentlessley chasing him - I've evn put the female bird on "vacation"- by putting her in another cage for a day. They have been taking good care of the week old hatchlings in spite of this all: as I hear the babies regularly -about for 2x' aday or more making the FF sort of a sound . Now that I have given you all the extra info. I only hope that you will bring a quick response to my original questions as a courtesy as this is my first time in inquiring answers on this web page and did wait over 15 hours for you to tell me you needed xtra info. for the second time ,and I really need to get an answer to these questions for the help of my birds sake - again I need to know how to sprout seeds for them and get them to stop fighting, etc ... thank you for your urgency in yhis regards.
