WHY DID MY STAR FINCH FLY TO HEAVEN

I BROUGHT A STAR FINCH 1 WEEK AGO AND IT DIED... I TOOK IT BACK TO THE STORE AND THEY DID A POST MORTUM {excuse my spelling} THEY TOLD ME THAT HE DIED OF DEHYDRATION AND STARVATION -- HOWS THAT POSSIBLE..HE WAS IN A LARGE FLIGHT CAGE WITH 13 OTHER BIRDS..I WATCHED HIM EAT, THEY GET NO ONLY SEED BUT HARD BOILED EGG,AND MONKEY COOKIES, GREENS AND SOME VEG'S.THERE'S ALWAYS WATER {3 large dishes}...I'M CONCERNED THAT I'M DOING SOMETHING WRONG...NOW I HAVE EGGS ALL OVER THE PLACE [heehee] AND I DON'T WANT TO PUT THE OTHER BIRDS AT RISK...CAN YOU HELP ME? ?
