I was just wondering what would cause, what seemed to the naked eye to be a perfectly 15 year old hen Tiel to just start having the stools turn yellow and like water and in three days was gone. She was Snuggles our female suck and her mate Freddie who is 14 is doing fine. It was sad to see Fred try to keep her going and trying to make her get up and after she went, he just sat in that big cage all alone and shreaked and whistled and making the same noises she always made. Four weeks later he is finally coming down and being his self, a great big suck again. I don't know if he would accept another female or not.

She has been gone for a month now but it just didn't make sense why she just up and got sick and died three days later and her mate Fred is 14 yrs old and doing fine now. He was upset for a while after she died but is getting back to his-self again. Thier food was not changed, thier cage was always clean and big enough for 6 Tiels instead of just them two. I had her lying on my chest as I was lying down in bed with her and woke up with her on my pillow, with her head under her wing, the way they sleep and she was gone. I have never seen this happen before. I just wondered what could have happened, I know they can live up to 30 years.
