I have female cockatiel named PrettyGirl who seems to be having a problem with one of her legs/foot. We do let her out of the cage occasionally but the last time we let her out she was ok. She seems to favor her leg and is not as energetic as usual. Around the same time the male we had PrettyBoy got out of the cage and flew off, we have not been able to get him back. We thought that she had the blues over missing her 'MAN' but it looks like she is limping around and is not as mobile. Do you have any insite on this that would help us? Thank you for your time. Are you positive she is female? Ever laid eggs or had a DNA test? Can you see any kind of injury, break in the skin, any toes not quite in the proper position? Look at the bottoms of her feet to see if you can see any indication of rubbing, a blister or similar. Can you tell me what kinds of perches she has in her cage? Do you know how to determine if her nails are too long? Is she fully flighted or does she have a wing trim? If she has a wing trim, has she ever tried to fly and if so, what happens? This extra information and anything you can think of to add will help me give you my best possible advice. Thanks, Patricia
