I have been taking weekend trips and leaving Saturday morning @8am after letting Kelly out at his usual 7am and getting back Sunday eveningat 6-6:30pm and letting him out again until his bedtime of 7pm. While I'm gone my cockatiel Kelly (male) is caged (he's out when I'm home during the week which is from 7am till 9am and 2or 3pm until 7pm with regular interaction with me)While I'm gone I have lights and the tv on timers to go on and off on his regular schedule. Is this harming him? Kelly is MALE, the info says female, I can't find where to change it

Hello, since Kelly is essentially "your best friend" when you're home he certainly misses you but if you are doing the Sat-Sun.visits away on a regular basis he will get used to that schedule eventually. My male cockatiel is very attached to me and when my schedule changes as it often does he is VERY ready to be with me when I get back (and doesn't stop trying for attention till I let him out Images available only to Customers.

All things considered I am quite sure you are not hurting him. It's nice that you care so much though.Very nice!

Just a thought...

I leave the TV on a peaceful channel when I am gone perhaps you can do that for company so to speak or even a good station you listen to?

Hope this helps. It's always nice to talk with another Cockatiel lover who really understands how wonderful they are!

Thankyou & God Bless!
