i bought a year old cockatiel and i want to know how ...

How old is the Tiel? How long have you had it at home with you? Can you describe some of it's actions and how it is reacting to you right now? How many people are in your family who may be trying to make friends with it. Do you know anything about it's previous home or how it was treated whereever it lived before you got it. Do you have any experience with parrots yet or is this your first bird? If you can help me with this additional information, it will help me to give you a much better, complete answer and some suggestions about what you need to be doing with the bird. Thanks, Patricia

Our tiel is 9 months old and he(name is Troy) was given to us by my sister and she bought it from local pet store, and he's only in my house 4 days we are 4 in the family we have 2 girl (7 and 10 yrs. old) and i most of the time trying to be friendly with him, he is afraid and nervous i am trying to get as much information as possible from internet and considering a book from the library about Tiels and yes this my first time raosing parrot and i used to raised budgies i have 60 gallons aquarium and a pet hamster i just need to know how long will it take for him to get use to us and what first step should you recommend and i am very fond of animals.please help me give some important info that i need do and know.
