You can transport him in a smaller version of his usual habitat, such as a small aquarium or plastic terrarium. Fill it with the same substrate he is used to, some water, etc. It should be big enough to stretch out in and placed in an area of the vehicle that is not too hot or too cold. Avoiding extreme temperature will probably be the most important thing. If you are stopping overnight on the way you should take him in your room and let him out to be handled and move a round a bit(if he is used to being handled often). Offer some nice fresh food at this time too. He should make it OK.
