(Not a Pet Question?)

My guilt
Sent to Pet Experts March 28 02:51 PM

My husband ran my dog over in the driveway. She was panting heavily and when I ran outside to her, I saw the inner left leg split open. She died on the way to the vet. Would she have suffered the same pain as we humans would? I want to believe there is a"magic" element in dogs that would say otherwise but I need to know the truth. I also feel I abadonded her when I ran back in the house. I wish I had comforted her.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Animals experience pain differently than humans for the mostpart. The have a higher pain tolerance because in the wild...if they show weakness they fall victim to being preyed upon. From the sounds of it, she went fairly quickly and there wasn't much time for suffering. I'm sure she knew you loved her and did everything you could.
Again I am sorry for your loss.
