My hero needs help, her back is broken

Hello my name is Loretta, and I am in need of help...Here is my story...
My best friend, co-worker and mentor has had a recent tragedy occur. Her best friend, faithfull companion and hero is in need of an emergency operation due to breaking her back...Let me start by introducing this wonderful animal..
Her name is Leiber Ein, and beautiful brown dachsund, and wonderful companion to my friend, and a hero to myself and my friend...Leiber Ein had been the one to detect the Thyroid Cancer my friend had, a little over 8 months ago, due to the persistant loving nudges on my friends neck, which gave my friend a clue to go and see a doctor and they did detect Cancer...Had it not been for Leiber Ein my dearest friend may not be here today...
Here is a lil bit of who my friend is...She is a gentle woman with a gigantic heart who is a wonderful counselor for indivduals with acute schitzophrenia. And is now going to school to become a LVN for our hospital...
Unfortuneately a tragedy has taken place, and Leiber Ein has broken her back due to jumping off the couch to greet my friend with her overwhelming love, which she has done for 5 years now, when my friend came home from work...Immediately my friend rushed her to the All Animals Emergency Care Hospital, and the doctor told her the tragic news and then proceeded to tell her the cost of the surgery, not including medications, and other added expenses,,which came to $5,000.00 plus..
Unfortunately my friend and I do not have that much money, and my friend is devastated, because the doctor has said they could try putting Leiber Ein on staroids for 2 weeks to see if it works, and if it does not my friend may be forced to put Leiber Ein down, and I do know that that would crush my friend terribly... My wonderful friend has taken off of work to be by her companions side, she has to pick her up and carry her outside to go tinkle, and brave Leiber Ein trys to stand but it is to crushing to see with the pain that she is having to endure Leiber Ein saved my friends life and now I feel I need to return the favor to Leiber Ein somehow.
Please help me with a response of who, what, where, and how, I can get someone to help us...
