While both cats and dogs can get something called distemper its actually two different viruses and each species has its own with no crossing.

I'd be much more suspicious of a change in air quality in your home.
Take the dogs out and see if that helps them stop wheezing. Are you using odor plugins? a new cleaner? or carpet fresh? that might cause this. Had any leaks in the roof? might be a mold problem.
Any new cedar beds? animals can react badly to cedar oils.
Of course it might just be bad luck and they each got something around the same time.
With cats it would be upper respiratory
