Injured Pekinese Eye

Pekinese had big dog bite head, eye came out. Replaced 7 days ago 6/5/05 PM Sunday. 6/10/Friday was told muscle damage severe. Is it too late to have, or is it a possibility to even re attach muscles at this point and where do I find Eye Dr. close to me at 92345; I am a nurse and think I know the answer. It is too late and this process has taken too long anyway. Was glad to find your site anyway. If I had know of your site would have contacted you then and paid any amount of money to have been advised what to ask the er vet that didn't have time to tell me sh*t.

Call your own vet and ask for a referral to the nearest veterinary opthamologist. I'd see about getting the dog in for an evaluation by an expert anyhow.
It can't hurt to have an expert opinion on the situation and that way you will know you did all you could and not wonder about it.
I ended up with removing the eye on the dog that had one popped. The ER vet in my case was too busy to see her soon enough to save the eye. Triage sometimes can leave you in that position when awaiting emergency services for animals or humans.
My dog did fine with one eye and she sure was in less pain after we had it removed (the ER vet replaced it but it got infected).
Hope this helps you and good luck with her!

I can't tell you from here is the problem - in fact over the net no one really can know as no one can see or feel the actual damage. That is why I suggested asking your vet for a referal to the local veterinary opthamologist.
You should be able to find one in your area if not in private practice perhaps at a vet school if there is one in Florida.
I do know the longer the delay the more the odds drop. But its an expert in the eye area and eye surgery that would do you the best with an in person evaluation I beleive.
Your zip code was for CA and you are saying you are in Florida so the best place for you to get a vet referral is probably the vet you usually see where ever you are.

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: I am in CALIF. I don't know if we have a vet school except UCDavis up North, and I believe that is where I will go! That is good advice and I am sure the wait makes the odds drop. I am sure she'll have vision, I was asking about re-attaching of muscles to hold eye in better to prevent accidental popping out in the future.
Time may no longer be on my side. Should have gone last week when I found your service.
