Hi i have purchased two baby Bearded Dragons and have had them for 2 days my partner woke up thismorning to find one of them dead, and the otherone does not look too good they have been slumped on the sand in the vivarium or the rock, most of the time, the substrate is Calcium sand as advised by the pet shop although i have seen on line that this is not good for them. The one i have left is alert one minute and slumped the next i have been surringing pear/plum into him every hour for the last 4 hours and he shows alertness every so often but is walking like he is drunk, i have also removed the sand and replaced it with Kitchen roll. His heat is at 95 basking and 80 in the tank and his belly is black in colour and he is very flat. He is only 3-4 inches in length from heat to tail tip. I am really worried i am going to loss him too as this is very stressful and i feel as though im doing something wrong is there anything else i can do, besides await the enevitable???

Optional Information:
Age: <1; Male; Breed: Bearded dragon

I'm sorry but it sounds like the pet store gave you a really bad start. I would take him back to the store and tell them how wrong they are sand is not very good substrate even for a desert animal it drys them you and if they eat too much it will get impacted in their stomach. even the calci sand is bad the package say its' digestible but i don't believe it I have seen way too many bad effects.Next time you buy a bearded dragon try to get one at least 10 weeks old.The pet store did not give you proper care instructions so I would hold the liable. THE BELOW LINK HAS GREAT CARE INFO
