West Highland Terrier Questions

Sent to Pet Experts October 23 2006 at 9:49 PM

I have a West Highland Terrier, who is two months old. She has been sleeping quite a bit and I was wondering if this was normal. Also, she bites quite a lot, but I am taking her to puppy training classes to try and rectify the situation. I just wanted some insight on the breed, like normal westie puppy behavior, sleeping habits etc. Thanks for your help,
Bryan

Dear Bryan, thankyou for your question on your West Highland Terrier.

At just two months old she should be sleeping alot. As for the biting that will be normal and it's important to keep safe chewing toys near here and substitute those for whatever she wants to chew.

The first year your puppy is just like any baby.Curious and not quite sure of anything. She's brand new in the world, You will need to pay close attention to the link below concerning things that are poisonous for your baby girl.

Keep your home "baby proof" so your dog is unable to chew a cord, swallow a Tylenol (which is most often fatal) or eat a plant or food that is poison.

I am giving you a few excellent websites on West Highland Terriers so you have more insight on this wonderful puppy.(I do realize you already have her but the first listing website has some good information)
