Horse problem
Sent to Pet Experts September 26 07:35 PM

Horses.. We have a bording stable and as of 2 months ago it seemed all were fine and well. Then all of a sudden behaviors started to change. Horses that got along now cannot stand to be around each other, very calm horses became aggressive and unable to be handled. Feeding time has become very hard due to the fact of the attemped biting and kicking, not to mentiom the fact of trying to run the help over. A simple task of leading a horse has turned into an impossible task due to the fact of getting part way to the destination at hand and being lifted off the ground bny a rearing and very unwilling horse. If you have any suggestions as to what might be causing this or what we can try abd do I would greatly appreciate it. We were not sure if it was a behavioral problem or if they might actually be physically sick in some way.

Has anything new been introduced into the stables...new machinery..employee...different food....new horse. TThes are all things that can set an animal off. ALso I would check the area really well to assure no other animal has taken up residence in , under, on top or aroud the stalls. They next step would be bloodwork to make sure all their values are normal.

Good Luck!

Response to ZooCVT's Post: yes we have brought in 2 new horses but everything seemed fine for the first month or so, and then it all went south after that. Thank you I guess the next step is to call the vet. Any suggestions on what type of tests should be run?
