WE HAVE A 13YRS-9MONTH OLD MALE PERSIAN CAT THAT HAS LOST A GREAT DEAL OF WEIGHT. WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET. IS THERE ANYTHING AVAILABLE OTC OR PERSCRIPTION THAT WE CAN GIVE HIM TO INCREASE HIS APPETITE?    THANX-JKW

 I agree with Critters above suggestion and also wanted to recommend trying fancy feast and baby food. I've had much success with getting anorexic cats to eat with those 2 and you can get them at the supermarket or petstore. I'm not sure with A/D whether a vet clinic will sell it to you without them seeing the animal because it is a prescribtion diet. I know the 2 clinic's that I worked at wouldn't but others may be different.
