(Not a Pet Question?)

Christina responded to my first question and I want to

Christina responded to my first question and I want to speak with her further. The dog does have pee coming out and has had two accidents in the house. There is no real oder. Should I just give her the juice like you suggested and no more water tonight? I want to try to minimize her accidents.

Thanks for your response.

My concern is whether this dog has a bladder infection or a more serious illness. When a dog is extremely thirsty it can be sign of Cushings disease, diabetes, or kidney disease.

So I'm wondering how long has she been at your home and how long has she had this thirst? If she goes to squat put a sterilized plastic container under the stream of urine to get a sample. If you have a 24-hour animal hospital you can ask them if the can check her urine. Also, I have found from my own experiences going to an emergency vet, only cost about 10% more than waiting for my regular vet. You may want to consider bringing her sooner, just in case there is something more serious going on.

In the meantime, try mixing 50% cranberry juice and 50% water and give her some of this to see if she drinks it. When I say limit her water, don't cut her off completely because she knows what she needs. But you may want to offer her a drink every 15 minutes - 1/2 hour instead of letting her drink none stop.

If you have a room that has linoleum, you may want to keep her in that room for the night.

Please post back to me and let me know her progress or symptom changes throughout the evening. I'd like to monitor her with you.
