Microchip migrated
Sent to Pet Experts July 29 04:47 PM

My dog's chip was implanted on March of this year when he was 6 months old, and at the same time he was neutered. He has been having breathing mixed with gagging/chocking problems, he was diagnosed antibiotic for the kennel cough. The antibiotics did not help, so x-rays were done yesterday at the vet and his microchip is in his throat. I need legal advise whom should I contact.

You would probably need to talk to a lawyer who specializes in areas of animal law.
You could also go to the state board of veterinarians with your complaint about the vet.
For a lawyer I'd suggest looking in the phone book for a legal referral service or search on google putting in your state and the words animal lawyer and see what comes up.
This site might help you with the state board info

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: Would these site and lawyer be applicable for the manufacturer of the chip also? I have been doing my research and the chips do not stay in their place in many pets. But pet owners I guess they do not take action.

I contacted the manufacturer of the chip, the manufacturer contacted my vet. I questioned my vet if it was not properly inserted, she said she did the insertion herself. So far the manufactured agreed to pay a reasonable amount of the surgery to remove the chip, but was told that is not the chips fault. If it is not the chips fault why should they be paying half the costs?.
